07-Ghost

9.50 (excellent) *BAWLS* The one and only anime to ever make me cry. It joins Big Fish (the film) as being one of what is now two pieces of fiction to ever accomplish that. *awards it*
You really feel for the characters. They're all enjoyable and unique. Some really great fight scenes and special abilities/attacks, to. Fabulous music and animation.

7.50 (good) A remarkably unique anime with some seriously beautiful artwork and fascinating stories. Highly stylised in almost every aspect, so, I could really see this one not being a lot of people's cup of tea~ ^__^;;; The ending is a bit more than a bit of a disappointment, though. There's a lot of time spent building up to something great, then--oh, no, wait. It never happens. XD Still worth a watch.

10.00 (excellent) One of my all time favourites~ <3 *coos with adoration* Unique, polished, and generally well-played. Stellar sound-track. Not a frame is out of place. I'd highly suggest it~

10.00 (excellent) F**king HILARIOUS. Beautiful animation, adorable catchy music, and, most of all, Hideyoshi, XDD *rolls*
Just for the record, Hideyoshi isn't a girl. Or a guy. Hideyoshi is a Hideyoshi. *will never stop laughing at that*

9.75 (excellent) I've not played the game or seen an anime. Thus, this is 100% about the manga.
Anyway, highly suggested for weaponry fans~ <3 Nothing says 'epic' quite like fighting with stickers. XD

It's almost laughably typical shonen, but in less of a stereotypical way and more of a nostalgic one. I've seen some viewers describe the series as being 'the definition of mediocre,' but, that's kind of why I love it. <3 Long-live my never-ending love for nostalgia-evoking series~! <3 Haha~

Most importantly, it has one of my all-time favourite characters in it (Kuroki FTW!). XD

Bleach

Seen: partially

Last Updated: Aug 14, 2010

7.75 (good) Can't go wrong with prototypical shonen. XD <3
As much as I love it, its tendency to drag, and the villain!sue earn it a 7.75. Dragging and such aside, it's quite fun~ <3
P.s., Weapons fans rejoice. *___*

9.50 (excellent) So. Much. Love. The only thing stopping this from getting a ten is the mad!fillers in the anime. *laughs* Highly suggested~

Earl and Fairy

Last Updated: May 06, 2010

9.50 (excellent) I wasn't really expecting much when I first started watching it (kind of looked like a typical romance with a wishy-washy female lead), but, was pleasantly surprised~ 0__o; The protagonist is good at what she does, and has an actual personality. She doesn't drape herself all over every man she meets, nor does she let every man she meets drape himself all over her. XD *high-fives her* There's an action butler (Raven FTW!), truly bizarre romantic interest (the guy's personality is...glitch *laughs*), and a whole set of endearing side characters.
It's cute, and short, so give it a go. X3

Fruits Basket

Seen: completely

Last Updated: Oct 11, 2010

7.25 (above average) It's cute. The female protagonist is one of the few in a shojo anime who doesn't annoy the c**p out of me, which is always a bonus. She has the abysmally typical ability to see into the hearts of others (oh, my...), but, is such a hard-worker and generally likeable person that she's hard not to grow fond of. *laughs*
Annd, annd, BUNNY! I love bunnies! *tackles*
Eh, better now. Totally better.
The rating is for some super!'special' voice acting, and dodgy animation ^__^; Fruits Basket fails to evoke the same sense of nostalgia that some other genre-typical anime/manga do, which loses it a few points. Predictability without charm isn't a big favourite of mine.

I didn't find the series to be anything special, but, considering the size of its fan-following, I'd say this is just more a case of viewer/series incompatibility than any problem with the show/manga itself. Give it a go and see what you think.

Gintama

Last Updated: Oct 11, 2010

7.00 (above average) Amusing, but nothing special. The series wasn't a particularly good match for my sense of humour, but, I'd still suggest folks considering it give the series a watch and see what they think.

Hetalia: Axis Powers

Seen: partially

Last Updated: Oct 11, 2010

10.00 (excellent) Hetalia is love. Geeky, glorious, potentially offensive love. XDD Any anyone with a fondness for history and ability to take things lightly should give the show a watch and comics a read. <3 It's just... yes. That's all I have to say: yes. <3
Shout-outs to the amazing performances of the voice actors/actresses and strangely fantastic music.

Hunter x Hunter

Seen: partially

Last Updated: Oct 14, 2010

10.00 (excellent) Hunter x Hunter isn't a ground-breaking masterpiece. It's not going to shock you with the ingenuity of its plot, its art is simple, and upon first watching or reading it, you can bet it'll feel familiar. The series is shonen, pure and simple. It's exactly what you'd expect of the genre--which is why it gets a ten. Hunter x Hunter is a perfect example of what it is.
While the series definitely needs more love, it isn't going to be for everyone. It's kind of like playing the original Pac Man instead of an updated version with better graphics and new features. You don't play it for the thrill. You play it 'cause it's the original Pac Man and you friggin' love it. *laughs* Maybe it's so bad it's good. Maybe you don't like all the shiny additions on the update. Maybe you remember playing Pac Man when you were younger and feel like reliving ye olde days. XD Who the heck knows. There's just some mysterious draw that these ultra!simple things , whether game or anime, have.

The characters are simply adorable. Sure, they're all pretty archetypal, but, they're archetypal in the best possible way. Even though I can think of a dozen or more similar characters off the top of my head, the cast of Hunter x Hunter manages to stand out. While some accomplish this better than others, not a one fails to come to life.
Special shout-outs to Killua for being incredibly well done. Characters with his sort of backstory usually feel the need to repent or avoid killing. He doesn't. Killing is an art, and life-threatening challenges are games. He doesn't even have problems encouraging people, working with a group, or socialising. There's something certifiably and gloriously cracked about his mental state--I love it.
The protagonist, Gon is likeable, but is a bit lacking when it comes to major flaws. ^___^;;;;

Characters outside of the leads are interesting and well-defined, too. A rarity in the genre.

Both the animation and music fail to stand out. They're neither bad nor good. The opening theme is cute, and fits the series perfectly, but isn't the sort of thing I'd seek out for the sole purpose of hearing.

Expect the typical multi-episode trials, but don't count on them to be dull. At the end of each episode, I'm always wanting to watch more.
It's a fun series that just makes you smile. That, more than anything, deserves a ten.

9.25 (very good) Still running.
Oh, one of my favourite anime/manga ever. Hands down.
It's absolutely ridiculous, and the cast is amazing. More recent chapters and filler arcs in the anime have been somewhat questionable (by which I mean: 'oh, my, but this is a steel hill the series is going down~'), but my general love of the characters makes up for it.
9.25 for Fail!fillers and recent chapter!fail.

Kuroshitsuji

Seen: completely

Last Updated: Apr 28, 2010

9.75 (excellent) Oh, Kuroshitsuji... XD This one's so well-known that I don't think I even need to say anything.

The music is b-e-a-u-t-i-f-u-l. Nice animation, with many a composition taken directly from a manga panel. Not remotely faithful otherwise, which is to put it mildly, but, a lovely show nonetheless.

As far as the manga goes, it's still running and is as eye-candy-ish as ever. *__*

Extra props for it having my all-time favourite character. *attack!hugs Undertaker* >:3

7.50 (good) It's okay? XD Kind of melodramatic, a bit iffy on the character development, and not particularly memorable. Still, it can be kindof addictive to watch. '___';

Mushishi

Seen: completely

Last Updated: May 11, 2010

10.00 (excellent) Beautiful. That's Mushishi in a word. It's a quiet series, so don't expect battles and lengthy character development. The protagonist (along with a doctor friend and a person who pops in for one episode then narrates some opening sequences~ XD ) is the only character you really see for more than one episode, and he's an understated man, better suited to floating about helping others then forming intricate social webs. If you're looking for romance or something with strong friendships and character rivalries, Mushishi isn't your best bet. Not to say that people don't relate with one another--they do. It's just that the protagonist is the one helping others relate, not the one doing the relating himself.
As for the main character--so much love. <3 It's seriously refreshing to see a lead who's so relaxed. He's not some hot-headed youth with a lot to learn. Heck if I know how old he is, but the guy knows what's what and has a good head on his shoulders. All of his actions are thought out, with equal weight given to each factor. He doesn't favour humans (whoopie! :D ) and appears to respect all life. I suppose some could say his emotional range is a bit limited since he's so chill. XD *votes he's just calm like that*
Eh, anyway, it's beautiful. Give it a watch.

Natsume Yuujinchou

Seen: completely

Last Updated: Aug 14, 2010

10.00 (excellent) Well, the manga gets a 10.
The anime gets a 10 for the first season, and a 8.75-9 for the second. I don't know what the heck gives with the random insertion of plot points that don't exist and wannabe hints at romance. The author specifially stated that there won't be romance. Ever. It's a show about friendship. I find it to be seriously annoying that the makers of the anime can't respect that.

Well, my hatred of the ending of the second season aside, I friggin' LOVE this series. Love. It's lovely in the same way that a peaceful summer day is. There's something really unique about it. The music is traditional and unobtrusive, and the premise is just... yeah. I'm being inarticulate, but, it's a really beautiful, gentle series. Quite reminiscent of a Studio Ghibli film in terms of feel. Anyone looking for something different should definitely give it a shot. :3

Onmyou Taisenki

Seen: partially

Last Updated: May 14, 2010

8.50 (very good) Epic. *rolls* The best way I can think to describe it is like a magical girls anime turned shonen. Replace the transformation sequences with lengthy summoning stock, change out the girls for a guy (interestingly, none of the protagonist's friends get drawn into the story's magical-ness), and presto! There's even a little token (the summon drive) that gets waved around to cue stock 'transformation' footage.
The art style would drive me batty if the anime weren't so ridiculously hokey in general. I sometimes find myself making excuses as to why I'm even watching something so... XD [reason: I watch anime while editing images]. I don't know if words can really describe. Some of the action gets so over-the-top that I end up feeling embarrassed for the characters involved. '__'; It's like watching DBZ and seeing Goku get an ultra-extra-super-duper-extra-super-reallyextrasuperduper new power-up. Beyond the ridiculous and all that. There's a clear target audience (very young boys...they would think it's <i>awesome</i> XD ), but the series has enough of a nostalgia-factor (ahh...remember when we all sat around watching Power Rangers and were totally convinced that the Rangers were not in any way geeky? *sighs*) to keep older viewers watching.
The opening is surprisingly good--in a really hokey, gloriously Fail!tacular way. XD I don't mind sitting through it much in the same way I don't mind sitting through the opening of ThunderCats. *rolls* It's just so... XD
Two things to warn about:
1. The girls are <i>deathly</i> annoying. To the point at which I've yet to see an episode streaming without comments about how all the girls should be tossed off a cliff. Or something. They really just need to die and I'm clearly not the only one out there thinking it.
2. Much like He Man, Onmyou Taisenki is <s>debatably</s> accidentally very, very gay. XD Mind, I don't mean this in a negative way, but in an 'oh, look, there are more shonen-ai undertones than y'see in most light shonen-ai anime'-type way. Again, something many a person has commented on. It's the sort of thing you can easily chalk up to hardcore friendship (uhm...male protagonists holding hands while flying through a field of rainbows in the opening notwithstanding... *rolls*), or ship. Still, it's difficult enough to miss that hardcore homophobes should be warned. ^___^; *laughs*
On a totally random note, the character designs for all the summons are fan-friggin'-tastic in their uniqueness.

Ouran High School Host Club

Seen: completely

Last Updated: Aug 14, 2010

8.50 (very good) Parody!attack away~! XDD
Ouran is hilarious. It doesn't try to be deep and meaningful, and knows how to play the cards it has to the best of their potential. The female lead got on my nerves quite a bit as she was so friggin' dull in comparison to the rest of the cast, but she can't really be blamed as they're just so epic. XD It's hard to stand out amongst that sort of crowd. *laughs*
And there was a bunny! *____* *loves bunnies* Bunnybunnybunnybunny~! *____*
...
That aside, I have to give it extra props for (almost) managing to keep my attention despite the distinct lack of combat (except for our dear little bunny boy and his being a weapon of mass destruction~ *rolls*).
The music and animation are fairly typical.
Like I said, fun, but nothing deep. Or special. At all. *doesn't really get what the fuss about this series is* A bit on the shojo-tacular side but in a (mostly) amusing way. Fun, but...I wouldn't watch it more than once.

Pandora Hearts

Last Updated: May 07, 2010

9.00 (very good) I love Pandora Hearts. I love the characters, I love the premise, I love the music (oh, gosh, b-e-a-u-t-i-f-u-l) and the performers involved in the anime, but... WTF Studio Xebec (animation company). Just, WTF. X____x; Animation!un-quality and scene-modding much? @___@; Nice job with the gecko-tail ending, though. '__';

Samurai Champloo

Seen: completely

Last Updated: May 07, 2010

8.00 (good) I don't really know how I feel about the series as a whole, but xomigf**kingc**p are the fight scenes beautiful. *_________* Joy to no irritating romance triangles developing, too. *laughs* I was waiting for it to happen, cringing in fear of the moment, and then---eh? The series ended and we didn't get some tragic cannon!Mary-sue-ness? 0__0 Love it!
The music and animation are both great. The rating is just because it was...eh...the way the story is told is quite linear, predictable, and, to be frank, boring. I've given higher ratings to things that are even more predictable, but, the difference is that those were fully aware of the fact that they're gimicky and went with it. XD Samurai Champloo seemed to be going for something a bit edgier and more unique. ^___^;; In that regard, it failed.
In terms of characters, the protagonists were likeable, but somehow didn't seem to really stand out. Not clich

Tactics

Seen: partially

Last Updated: May 02, 2010

8.25 (good) Tactics is kind of like...it's the mutant child of Kyou Kara Maou and Natsume Yuujinchou . XD; The characters in Tactics are a bit more type-written (read: brooding, kind-hearted, non-human bishonen with a dark, past, and diminished abilities, a powerful, talented, money-loving protagonist with obfuscating stupidity problems, a quiet, doll-like little psychic girl, etc.) than in either of the aforementioned series, but not in a bad way. It's more nostalgic than chafing. '__'; The animation wobbles between dodgy & lovely, and the music, as a whole, is rather adorable.
Actually, come to, it has a really similar feel to Rurouni Kenshin. 0__o; Except, Kenshin's old enough that its characters weren't stock!tacular when it was written. *laughs*
In short, the series is fun. Nothing deep and beautiful, easily liked and definitely worth a watch. Especially for fans of Japanese folklore. X3

Tengen Toppa Gurren-Lagann

Seen: completely

Last Updated: Aug 31, 2010

9.75 (excellent) See this series? Right here? Yeah. It's MADE OUT OF EPIC. I don't usually type in caps, but, in this case, it's necessary to depict the EPIC that is Gurren Lagan.
If you're looking for something deep with flawless character development and realistic battles, run while you still can. Tengen Toppa Gureen-Lagann is a festival of over-the-top, action-packed, ridiculously illogical, fun. In other words: "Go beyond the impossible, and kick reason to the curb!"
Providing it's sufficiently AWESOME (again, caps for descriptive purposes), the universe's laws of reality will adapt. Having giant robots powered by what amounts to evolutionary potential (Spiral Energy)? If it gets us giant robots, go for it. :D Punchin--er, drilling through incorporeal substances? Is it awesome? Yes? Hey, presto: it works! :D
Reason regularly takes a back seat to the ever-present Rule of Cool. And, y'know what? It's great. Corny as heck, but, great. XD
Expect the music to match the action (Viral's leitmotif--ohmigoodness). And the art direction. And pretty much everything.
The series isn't art. It's not a masterpiece (thus the lack of a 10), but it was without a doubt one of the most entertaining I've seen.
Shout-outs to Viral for being friggin' awesome.
